After 6 largely successful, mostly positive, frequently difficult, often rewarding, professionally satisfying years, I left my IT consulting job. My last day was Friday, 3/26.
My first week of unemployment has been graced with flawless weather & copious margaritas. My days are peppered with books & naps & lengthy walks.
April is comics convention season, and Lucy & I will split the next 5 weeks between New York City, Portland OR, Toronto, and beautiful Chicago.
This fall, I matriculate as a candidate for a master’s degree in human-computer interaction at Carnegie Mellon University. (Read all about the program here.)
If you were to ask me at some random point in the last week how I feel about all of these circumstances, my answer could have been any of the following: excited, confused, bittersweet, irrepressibly happy, like an adult, like a teenager, and like the next few months will present me with a set of opportunities that absolutely must be utilized.

Congrats on the change – I’m sure you’ll enjoy your time off as well as your new adventures! However, it probably wasn’t the best idea to post this on April’s Fools.
I know you’re telling the truth… just seems like bad timing for the entry.
